Competitive Youth

Edmonton Competitive Junior Ultimate (ECJU) is dedicated to organizing and delivering competitive junior ultimate programming in Edmonton, in partnership with the Alberta Cannons, the Edmonton Ultimate Players Association (EUPA), and the Alberta Flatball Club. The program focuses on developing youth athletes for high-level competition, promoting the Spirit of the Game, and providing meaningful opportunities to compete at national tournaments.

Through its collaboration with the Alberta Cannons, EUPA, and the Alberta Flatball Club, ECJU offers experienced coaching, a strong emphasis on the Spirit of the Game, world-class training, youth-centered physical development, and team-building opportunities. This supportive and competitive environment is designed to foster both athletic and personal growth in young players.

Looking ahead to 2026, as part of the Alberta Cannons Club, ECJU aims to send multiple teams to the Canadian Ultimate Championships, which will be held in Surrey, British Columbia, from August 9-16 (with junior divisions typically competing during the first four days).

Beginning in May, once fields are open, ECJU will offer:

• Competitive (touring) team practices twice per week (Sundays from 5:00-7:00 pm and Wednesdays from 7:00-9:00 pm at the Kaskitayo fields)

• Participation in EUPA’s Summer 7v7 Adult League and EUPA’s U19 Youth Programming

• Joint training sessions with youth players from other Alberta cities, such as Calgary

In addition to the National Championships in August, the program includes three required training weekends between May and July, mandatory tournaments in July, and additional optional tournament opportunities.

Players intending to compete at the national level are expected to commit fully to the program by attending practices regularly, demonstrating a strong willingness to learn and train, and developing the skills and fitness required to compete at a national standard.
