Roundnet: Tuesday Coed

Hello fellow Roundnetters,

Thank you for signing up for the first ever EUPA roundnet league. I am very excited that this league is going ahead. Some of you know me, but many are signed up for their first event ever which is great to see. My name is David van den Bijgaart and I am the president of Roundnet Alberta, run Edmonton Roundnet, and will be the main point of contact for this league.

There are some housekeeping items that I would like to address to allow the league to run smoothly. If there is anything that I miss, or you have any questions whatsoever do not hesitate to reach out to me call/text 780-718-0514 or email

We would like to remind everyone to abide by the most current government guidelines and facility guidelines (whichever is more stringent) when participating in EUPA programming.  Currently, masks are to be worn at all times when you are not engaged in sport on the field - this includes washrooms, hallways, & entries.  As well, two (2) metres distancing is required indoors at all times when not actively participating in the sport.

Know that policies and requirements can change at any time so please be diligent about following the most current guidelines.  Working together to prevent the spread of COVID-19 means the greater chance we can continue programming uninterrupted throughout 2022.

  • All players MUST provide a proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test valid within 72 hours in order to enter the facility.

  • Please ensure you are wearing your mask at all times when not actively playing in a game. If you are willing/able to wear a mask while playing that is even better but not mandatory.

  • There will be hand sanitizer available for everyone to use at any time. Please ensure you are sanitizing before and after each set, or as often as possible.

  • Please refrain from high fives or handshakes.

Schedule and Standings

The schedule and standings are a little more complicated since we have individuals mixed with teams. Individuals will rotate and play with a new partner each week. For playoffs the top male and female will be paired together, then second, 3rd, etc.

The schedule and standings can be found here, feel free to bookmark. Please arrive a minimum of 15 minutes prior to your first game. I will have all the nets there ready to go. Help would be appreciated in setting out nets, and taping service lines. Also at the end of the evening if everyone can help collect nets and pull tape from the turf that is always greatly appreciated. Cleats(no metal spikes) are permitted on the turf, so if you have some I would encourage you to bring them.

Please use the Spikeball app to communicate that you will be at the league on any given night. Thank you to those of you who are already RSVPed on the app for most weeks. If you have not done this already please do. I will be checking that 24 hours prior to ensure that everyone will be in attendance. If you are not able to attend please ensure you find a sub for yourself (more info below).

All players have signed up because they want to play. Since roundnet is a 2 player game it is essential that individuals show up for their games. There is nothing more frustrating than coming out excited to play and the other team does not show up. All teams (one of the two teammates, or each individual player) are required to bring a $50, NON-DATED cheque made out to “Roundnet Alberta”. This cheque will be held as a team bond, it will be returned at the end of the season, if there are no concerns. The cheque may be cashed if a team does not show up for their games. The decision on if a team is required to forfeit their team bond will be made on an individual case basis. If a bond is forfeited a new cheque must be provided prior to being allowed to play their next game.

It is each individual's responsibility to find a sub for any games they are not able to attend. Remember that anyone subbing must be a registered EUPA member, memberships can be purchased HERE, this is strictly for insurance purposes. Please do your best to find a sub of similar abilities as the individual they will be replacing. If you are struggling to find a sub please reach out  (David 780-718-0514) as early as possible (minimum 24 hours) and I will do everything I can to help find a sub.
